Intelligent Lighting: Hue by Phillips
I am loving this one: Hue by Philips - a wireless lightbulb with a mobile app allowing you control dimming, color, and more. Perfect timing too - my sister was just looking for a way to avoid the costs of wiring for dimmer lighting in her new home!
I am so looking forward to even more in the realm of intelligent homes. I mean, what can be more important than technology innovation with true meaning and purpose - purpose like providing a safe, secure, protected home for your family.
The future is good!

Stop Blogging, Shoot Video
[Article for Keller Williams]
Did you follow my advice and stop blogging? Good. No one reads anymore. We watch videos.
You Tube is not just a video site filled with cat videos, its more: its a search engine. The second largest search engine in fact. Not only that, its owned by the first largest search engine and overall, it is the 3rd most visited site in the world. Think about it: when you run a Google search, are you choosing the video that appears in the search results, or that 30-page dissertation you need to go get your glasses for? You're clicking on the video.
The point is, what's the point of all that labor-intensive writing when you can get better SEO results in a way that better connects with your audience - and is actually easier?
According to James Wedmore from the Video Traffic Academy, marketers are seeing 691% higher conversions from You Tube traffic when compared to Google conversion. Do you know what that means? That means Youtube is delivering more leads now than any other traffic source. On top of that, according to Chad Hyams, Bold Tech Coach with Keller Williams, sellers are 73% more likely to list with you when you use video in marketing.
Sigh. But you also have to be the producer too. That's going to require a lot of skill and creativity right? Nope - not when you have the secret formula!
Here, James Wedmore gives us the secret sauce: a 5-part outline that is the anatomy of the perfect You Tube video for marketers. Use this simple framework for developing smart, relevant, value-add content that drives traffic and delivers results.

Remember: the purpose of content is to build relationships (while you are busy selling) and drive traffic back to your site for lead capture.Get it? Ok, so now that you have an alternative to that high-pressure writing career you weren't really cut out for anyway, you are now free to explore the kind of role you were actually made for. You're a salesperson after all; you love the spotlight! This is your time to shine - you finally get your chance to be an actress/actor! [Insert jazz hands here].
Sigh. But you also have to be the producer too. That's going to require a lot of skill and creativity right? Nope - not when you have the secret formula!

Creative Ideas for Video Marketing
[For Keller Williams]
Still not good at all this creative stuff? Below is a growing grab bag of fun video marketing ideas for real estate agents. Use liberally to give your creative spirits a lift!
Creative Ideas for Your Real Estate Video Marketing Campaigns
Still not good at all this creative stuff? Below is a growing grab bag of fun video marketing ideas for real estate agents. Use liberally to give your creative spirits a lift!
Creative Ideas for Your Real Estate Video Marketing Campaigns
- Look at what others are doing. When in doubt, refer to Jessica Edward's content. She's just doing it right - excellent, relevant and value-add content.
- Inspirational. What about a new home owner opening the house for the first time? That's an emotional moment! Surely that could touch, move, and inspire a potential client!
- Commonly asked questions. When you find yourself repeating yourself, shoot a video. Point folks to your site where all those commonly asked questions are housed and save yourself some time.
- How-tos: staging your home, becoming a real estate agent, home maintenance, property taxes, design and decor tips and tricks. Remember that "how to" do stuff is a very common search query - your video could make the ranks as an answer to that question.
- Featured businesses and cross-promotions. I have an innovation management firm which owns the Modern Living Atlanta brand. I'm considering starting an online magazine exploring modern living in all its various forms: style, architecture, decor, community.... from featuring a video with Modoni - one of my favorite modern furniture wholesalers here in Atlanta to other business partnerships. There is endless opportunity to build win-win alliances where banners with discounts, advertisements, advertisements, videos and more are shared between sites. Who do you know in the business development community would would be a great marketing partner?
- Interview local experts. What's happening with that school rezoning? When will the electric trolley be completed? Get advice and opinions straight from the source - and build a relationship in the process.
- Home tours. Consider this: if you upload a single video for each room in a house to You Tube, you could use the Spotlight Annotation boxes at the end of your video to create a grid where viewers could select a video by room. Are you more likely to continue clicking when videos are sorted by room on a grid?
- Be the trends expert and maybe even the market forecaster for your area. Where is your market trending? What's happening in that niche area? Where are you seeing movement, growth, recession, interesting patterns, anomalies? Why? You could also use Brokermetrics to write custom reports for market analytics and release quarterly - that's how Barbara Corcoran met Donald Trump.
- Afraid to be in front of the camera? How about putting one of your listing clients next to their home's sold sign and asking them for a testimonial. There's also a creative solutions for everything!
- Humorous agent in the field videos. You know you got 'em. Be real. Humor sells.
- Client appreciation videos. Here's a great idea: did your client have a new baby? Buy the baby's domain name from Go Daddy and then use Jib Jab to send a video e-card.
- Tour guide. Become the mayor of your town! Do an around-town video. Review dining establishments. Attend events. Tell us what events are coming up. Let us ride alongside you on your bike tour. Take us with you as you volunteer in the community.

Do you have any ideas to add to the mix? Please share in the comments below!

Simple Steps for Setting Up the New Mobile App
Confused by all this talk of mobile codes? I was too!
So I whittled everything down into a simple step by step guide to getting started with KW mobile for agents. Let's do this thing!
Step 1: Log into the KW Intranet.
Step 3: Click on Home > Agent Website Admin.
Step 4: Drill Down to > 4.0 > 4.5 "Mobile Property Search" in the eAgency Website Editor.
Step 5: Find the Mobile Codes by scrolling to the bottom. These codes are what personally brands your application for marketing and lead capture.
Step 6: Two options: scan the QR code from your computer screen - OR- go to your mobile phone or tablet > go to the App Store (iPhone) /Google Play (Android) > search for the "Keller Williams Real Estate Search" app and download it.
Step 7: Open the KW app, say okay to allow the app to use your location information, view and accept the terms of use.
Step 8: Enter the code you made a note of in Step 4 in the field below. The code is not case-sensitive.
You're in! Now you can peruse your personally branded app! Here's a tablet view:
Benefits
Instant information: Now when you are out in the field and a client asks about a property, you have all the listing information at your fingertips.
Lead capture: With a personally branded app, all contact requests are routed back to you. The more users using your personally branded app, the more direct leads you're capturing.
Bugs
Agent Codes Not Automatic for Clients: Currently clients have to enter your codes with the application download URL and the QR code. Will be corrected in a future release.
Neat Stuff for Marketing!
Neat Stuff 1: From the KW Intranet, you can use the QR Code and the Mobile URL for marketing. Add these to email signatures, signage, etc. Please note, client users will have to enter your agent code until a future release.
Neat Stuff 2: From the mobile app, use the Send App feature to text the app to your friends!
If you had any problems, be sure to request some time with me and we'll get you setup!

Strategic Foresight for Glassware
My strategic guidance for Google Glass application developers based on Forrester's latest research:
Google is Busy Tuning the Culture With Cool
Glass Has No Facial Recognition, is Not to Augmented Reality in Current State
- Early adopters will be hands-free professionals: real estate, healthcare, government, military.
- Second wave will be creative professionals and thought leaders.
- General consumers will likely not be adopters for sometime outside of tethered iPhones for use with maps, photos, and videos.
- iWatch and non-face positioned wearables are considered more acceptable and would be first wave on consumer side, though many unknowns in this area: iWatch launch date, Warby Parker rumored to be working with Google Glass, etc..
General Consumer Tolerance to Wearables by Position
Early Adopters are Young Tech Optimist with Significant Social Footprints

Possible Futures: Digital Cremation
Social media will evolve into the "Tree of Life," the humanities of personal learning networks, where we will be able to access and experience whole life stories, events as they happened, bodies of work, creative artifacts, and legacy... primarily in an open neural net and secondarily, in a private lineage.
Digital assets will be an end of life matter to contend with and rights to a restricted lineage - where the uncut version of one's story lives - will be willable. Digital will become a recognized part of the estate with secure, embedded programable options for distribution. The richness, quality, and uniqueness of one's life will determine its potential as a monetized annuity. Digital cremation and destruction of legacy will also be an option.
We will be able to leave our legacy directly to those our lives had messages and meaning for.
Our life memories, lessons, personal learning systems (passions, interest, collected wisdom), artifacts, and stories will be searchable, experienace-able, and tradable where allowed.
We will be able to donate our digital lives to science or for public good. Our experiences will be a part of rehabilitation programs and philanthropic initiatives, offering the authority of personal experience and relatedness as comfort and inspiration to those struggling to overcome similar trials in life, i.e. illness, career crises, addiction, family dysfunction... Transparency quickens transformation as its revealed that life struggles are not unique, problems are surmountable, and innovative solutions exist. Long after we are gone, we may still continue to contribute in unique ways to the intelligence back of personal learning networks as "digital angels." The "self-help" industry will transform, no longer a 1-way dispensary of sage advice, books, and lectures, but will evolve as a democratized, interactive, coaching/learning network, rich with humanity and sharable, relatable life experience.
We will be able to find answers to questions like, "did my great grandmother go through this when she was my age? Who did? What was she like? Can I see what she experienced, what she went through? Can I skip through her life and see how the dots connected, how it worked out in hindsight? Can I study hindsight through others life experience and extract patterns? What was her life's meta narrative, i.e., what was the whole meaning of her life?"

The Future of Cube Life
Hear that? Oh man, it sounds like squeaky wheels again. Great, here comes Ava. Act like you're doing work.
Cisco and iRobot recently announced their collaboration on the autonomous Ava 500 telepresence robot for business, set to be released in 2014. The firms hope the Ava 500 will allow business people to attend daily meetings in person, across the planet - without ever changing a plane or time zone, for a cool $70,000.
Yeah, it makes the $2,500.00 price tag for the iPad telepresence robot by Double Robotics a lot more appealing, don't you think?
Oh Ava, you are so awkward. Get some holographic projection and a more sophisticated design. And do something with that wobble.

Social Games to Play With Mobile Developers
Social UAT Over Drinks
- Social event: drinks at a networking event, social event, or a bar/pub.
- Developers bring mobile apps to test with public. What better way to meet new people, get valuable feedback, and promote your product all at the same time!
- Users rate the app based on quality, functionality, style.
- A little healthy competition: winner gets their tab paid for and a prize!
Burning Issues Whiteboard Jam Sesh
- Developers throw down! Let's do this thing!
- Developers selected who have "burning issues" - the coding issue that will not go away! Crikey!
- First, they share their feels. Get it out brother! Everyone empathizes. Awe.
- Then the developer hits the whiteboard to model the problem visually for everyone and petition for help. Its okay, its safe here.
- The community steps up one by one to add insight and help solve the problem on the white board with them.
- Community problem solving over drinks! Everyone learns. Every is heard. Its like group therapy. Sharing and caring.
Code Gauntlet (like a Pitch Burn but less serious)
Business Partner Matchmaking- Only for the bravest developers!
- 2-3 developers are pre-selected for "code burns." Aweyeah.
- Single developer presents their app to a panel of experts in design, development, and optimization and receives a 360-degree feedback review from coding sharks. Nom. Nom.
- Truth in coding: honest feedback delivered in a loving and insightful way - all over drinks to take the edge off and make it fun!
- Everyone else: social hackfest, learning, watching and giggling at the entertainment.
- Team up with Social Media mavens to cross-pollinate ideas for fusion sesh!
- Icebreaker: Everyone goes around the room and shares what excites them in mobile/social... share the passion. Raise the energy.
- Panel shares WWDC conference experience, discusses issues/findings, future of a particular space/niche, cross pollinate ideas from industry events in space. Panel fireside chat.
- The floor is open to Q&A.
- Breakout for small group discussion: new opportunities on the horizon/natural brainstorming flow… Who shares someone's same vision? Is this the one thing that excites someone else? Facilitate connections.
- Breakout to hackfest groups over food and drinks.
- Partner up or mix and mingle with someone who shared your same passion/vision/issue.. show and tell each other's current work. Collaborate with someone in a different space to explore integrated opportunities. Easy progression to close - allow no-pressure "business partner matchmaking" magic to happen.
Hack Accelerator
- Freestyle hack, social, and drinks.
- Fast hack: 30 minutes of full engagement.
- Accelerated round robin: Each person presents a problem they found and how they solved it in 2 minutes or less.
- Pick "Best Lesson Learned"
- Repeat fast hack and accelerated roundtable (time X)
- Freestyle hack, social, and drinks.
- Best lessons learned wins prizes!

Osho Quote
“Deprive
yourself of all possible identifications, and see what you are. Suppose you are
not a son to your parents, nor the husband to your wife, you are not the father
to your children, or a relative to your kindred, a boss to your employees, a
friend to you acquaintances, nor a citizen to your country, not German,
Chinese, not white or black, no longer young, no longer old, man or woman, and
so on and so forth.
Now your host is alone with no guest,
so who are you?”

I Don't Type
Anyone who knows me knows that I hate typing. I abhor it actually. In our technologically advanced era, what can possibly be more time-wasting then sitting at a computer plucking away at keys - one by one - for the simple sake of communicating a message? Why type when we have dictation and word transcription tools, something called "the phone" more people should learn how to use, and one day, (I cannot wait!) commercial use of brain-computer interface. We even have Voxer for those who insist on texting while driving - let's move on! Let's drop the typing. I am.
I've figured out a way to reduce all that painstaking manual finger labor by automating my blogging for my real estate business. Hey, and while you are here, why don't you pop over and check it out: Modern Living Atlanta.
So how do I avoid writing a single blog post for real estate while bumping myself way up in SEO you might be asking? I use IFTTT.com. Yep, IFTTT. It stands for "if this, then that." So if some event happens on the internet, then you can tell it to "do something." Here's some examples:
So here's how I've set it up: I subscribe to several RSS feeds from real estate sources like INMAN news and Curbed Atlanta. I then setup recipes on IFTTT to automatically feed content to my Tumblr blog (found on my website). When new posts hit my Tumblr blog, I've also set IFTTT up to propagate to my Wordpress site, Facebook site, Blogger site, etc... so essentially, I aggregate all kinds of local real estate market information, enrich the metadata by adding my name, my company name, keywords, etc.. and then I blast my name and company name across the entire Internet on a continual basis, generating fresh content daily, and bumping myself up in the SEO rankings - and here's the genius part: all without doing a lick of typing.
Hey - but I do read it!
Nice huh? Wait till you see how I'm eliminating typing altogether by snapping a picture of business cards which auto-transcribe and upload to my CRM (client relationship management database). My goal is to eliminate typing forever. More tips and tricks to come! Stay tuned.
Until then, get creative. Stop typing. Find better ways.
